Basic information:
This event was held at the Danversport Yacht Club in Danvers, MA on Wednesday, July 25. Author setup started at 10:00 am, and the doors opened to the public at 4:00 pm. The event ran till 9:00 pm.
The New England Authors Expo is the largest grassroots literary event in New England. The NEAE has over 2,000 authors, illustrators, publishers, printers and other publishing professionals on its contact list. By working together we organize book sales and other book-related events throughout the year. We try to keep our fees as low as possible so that every author will be able to attend our events. This event is free to the public.
New for 2018:
During the setup/networking time (from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm), we had panels, lectures and workshops for the attending authors and illustrators in the lower ballroom. These speeches featured authors, publishers and companies and focused on topics that are important to New England authors and illustrators. During public viewing time (4:00 pm to 9:00 pm) we had lectures given by special guests and celebrities.
Schedule:

11:00 AM – Doors open for librarians, bookstore owners and TV & radio guests
11:30 AM – Doors open for people interested in attending the panel discussions
12:00 Noon – Panel #1: “Say it. Sell it.” (How to get on TV and Radio.)

Special Guest Stars:
Derek Nikitas
The author of the thriller novels Pyres and The Long Division. Pyres was nominated for an Edgar Award for Best First Novel by the Mystery Writers of America, and The Long Division was a Washington Post Book World Best Book of 2009. He’s also written Extra Life, a science fiction novel for young adults, and he has co-written several “Bookshot” novellas with James Patterson, including Diary of a Succubus and You’ve Been Warned – Again. He teaches fiction writing and screenwriting at the University of Rhode Island.
Frank J. Romano
Frank Romano is Professor Emeritus at RIT and has spent 60 years in the printing and publishing industries. He is the author of 60 books, including the 10,000-term Encyclopedia of Graphic Communications (with Richard Romano), the standard reference in the field. His books on QuarkXPress, Adobe InDesign, and PDF workflow were among the first in their fields. He has authored most of the books on digital printing. One of his books is the 800-page textbook for Moscow State University. He has founded eight publications, serving as publisher or editor for TypeWorld/Electronic Publishing (which ended in its 30th year of publication), Computer Artist, Color Publishing, The Typographer, EP&P, and both the NCPA and PrintRIT Journals. He has consulted for major corporations, publishers, government, and other users of digital printing and publishing technology. He wrote the first report on on-demand digital printing in 1980 and ran the first conference on the subject in 1985. He is president of the Museum of Printing in Haverhill, MA where his 6,000-book library now resides. He is passionate about preserving the rich history of typesetting and printing. He continues to teach courses at RIT, CalPoly, and other universities and works with students on unique research projects.

TV Special
Stephen Lomer, author and host of the YouTube show Tell Me About Your Damn Book, will be on hand at the New England Authors Expo, interviewing authors in attendance for a special edition episode of TMAYDB. Sit-down interview segments will run approximately 10 minutes and will give authors an opportunity to plug whatever they’re working on.
Tell Me About Your Damn Book has featured authors like Rob Watts, Artemis Crow, Kari Lemor, Lorenzo Petruzziello, Laurel Ostiguy, and Stacey Longo. Future episodes will feature Satin Russell, RF Keenan, John McIlveen, Guntis Goncarovs, and more!
